Overview

Enjoy a brief bus tour in Hamilton City as we share stories of the Friendly Societies and their contributions before and after Emancipation and within the community, along with their involvement and contribution to the game of Cupmatch. Included is also a visit to The Alexandrina lodge, in which Friendly Society members will share the rich history of the lodges and their legacy and impact in the community over the centuries.

 

Highlights:

1. Visit "Barr's Bay Park" – We visit "We Arrive Sculpture" A story about the Enterprise Ship that arrived in the 1800's and find out the fate of those onboard.

2. Point out the former "Old Lane School" – Learn about its historical contribution towards education in Bermuda

3. Learn about Joseph Rainey an African American who came to Bermuda and his contributions towards the Friendly Society

4. Visit “Alexandrina Lodge" Where Friendly Society Members will share the rich history of the lodge and their legacy and impact within the black Community

What To Expect

Departure point:

Departure from the Alexandrina Lodge on Court Street which is the light blue building which also has the sign "United Dance Productions" and you will a Titan Express Bus parked outside the building and guest are welcomed to get on and this will also be the return location

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for check in and to ensure an on-time departure and the tour is approx. 2hrs and will depart promptly at the scheduled time.
